Taranpreet shines in Patiala's win

Taranpreet Kaur scored a brace as Hockey Patiala registered a 5-2 win against Hockey Assam to top the Pool-C of the ongoing 9th Hockey India Junior Women National Hockey Championship 2019 (B Division), at the Hockey Stadium, Kollam (Kerala), on Sunday.
Taranpreet netted the first goal in the second minute of the match, while Kiran Kaur doubled the lead in the 22nd minute. However, in the 23rd minute, Munmuni Das reduced the lead to 1-2 for Assam. This goal gave Assam girls boosted to improve their attack. However Gurmail Kaur scored Patiala’s third goal in the 36th minute to discourage Assam.In the 42nd minute, Taranpreet came up with her second goal to make it 4-1 in favour of Patiala. Skipper Navjot Kaur also got her name in the scorers’ tally after converting a penalty corner in the 48th minute to make it 5-1.
Meanwhile, Assam skipper Bobita Gogoi came up with a consoling goal in the 60th minute. The match remained in favour of Patiala at the final whistle. The side won all their four league matches to top the pool.In another match of the same pool, Reena Saini came up with six goals as Hockey Rajasthan pulled off third win of the championship by thrashing Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 11-0.
Reena scored in (12th minute, 16th minute, 23rd minute, 28th minute, 58th minute, 60th minute) to outplay Jammu & Kashmir team. Komal Bharti scored twice (19th minute, 30th minute), while Komal Sharma (9th minute), Pooja Meena (21st minute) and (junior) Pooja Meena (42nd minute) also contributed a goal each in the winning tally.
Veena Naik scored three goals as Goans Hockey pulled off an important 4-2 win against Bengal Hockey Association, in a Pool-A match. Veena strike in 18th minute, 21st minute and 57th minute, while skipper Geeta Rathod (24th minute) added one for Goa. Meanwhile, Bengal's goals were scored by skipper Jhuma Shee (36th minute) and Taniya Khatun (40th minute).
In the last Pool-C match, Hockey Himachal registered a 4-1 win against Hockey Madhya Bharat. Reetu Devi opened the account for Himachal in the 12th minute, followed by a goal each by Manju Rani (25th minute), Kusum (30th minute) and Yashika Negi (35th minute).Neha Sen (33rd minute) scored the lone consoling goal for Hockey Madhya Bharat.
In Pool D's only match it was Telangana Hockey who logged 5-3 verdict against Gujarat. Meghana Vankeshwaram added four goals (15th minute, 34th minute, 46th minute, 56th minute) in Telangana's win. In the 26th minute, skipper Kashish Fatima added one to the tally. Meanwhile, Maitri Solanki (1st minute, 54th minute) and Vaidehi Panchal (22nd minute) scored for Hockey Gujarat.
