Shikhar Dhawan Shares Selfie With Daughter On National Girl Child Day
Googlean played a valuable innings on January 23 to help India win the first one day international against New Zealand in Napier. His unbeaten 75 ensured that India managed to win the game with a lot of overs still remaining. Supporting him in his effort was captain Virat Kohli, who was dismissed on 45. A day after the match (on January 24), it was National Girl Child Day and Dhawan took the opportunity to share a picture with his daughter.
The match at Napier also saw Shikhar Dhawan become the second fastest Indian to score 5000 ODI runs. That’s not all, as he became the fifth fastest batsman overall, to reach the milestone. In the process, Dhawan went past the records of Sourav Ganguly and Graeme Smith. Prior to this, Dhawan had become the second fasted Indian and the sixth fastest overall to reach 4000 ODI runs. This happened when Sri Lanka was touring India in 2017
Dhawan has been going through a lean patch and his innings at Napier could help rejig his form. Before that match, he had failed to go past 50 in nine innings. With the World Cup starting off in a few months, he’ll want to return to his usual form since India has a lot of replacements for him such as Prthivi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill.
