Eden Hazard provides an important update regarding his move to Real Madrid from Chelsea
Eden Hazard moving to Real Madrid has dominated headlines for the past year. Hazard has stated his desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the past but has always stayed committed to Chelsea. After the World Cup, Hazard had revealed that moving to Madrid was always his dream but he did not want to offend Chelsea by demanding the move. This season the talk has always been about Hazard’s future with even manager Maurizio Sarri demanding the Chelsea board to resolve the matter.
Hazard’s contract would expire at the end of the 2019/20 season and he has been reluctant to sign a new one. Chelsea doesn’t want to let their star player go but they would definitely look to avoid a repeat of the Thibaut Courtois situation. The Belgian goalkeeper refused to sign a new contract and did not turn up for training before the start of the season. This forced Chelsea to accept a cut-price deal for Courtois in the summer.
However, Hazard has always maintained that he wouldn’t like to follow Courtois out of respect for the Stamford Bridge side. But he announced that he will take a decision after the season ends. Now it has been reported that Hazard was non-committal on the question of a move to Madrid.
In an interview with France Football, Hazard said “I have won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean that I’m leaving. I have always said that I wanted to explore something different after England. But there are also things that might make me stay.”

This does not clear any questions regarding his future at Chelsea but Hazard has maintained he is not leaving the club in the January transfer window. Hazard is extremely important to Chelsea in their bid to return to the Champion Leagues. He is the top-scorer with 12 goals and has provided 10 assists in all competitions.
However, Hazard had previously said "Real Madrid is the best club in the world. I don't want to lie, it is my dream since I was a kid,” so a move to Santiago Bernabeu cannot be ruled out.
